Marie Curie Top Summer Schools
The annual Top Summer Schools are designed for excellent young researchers of international law. It will cover all main topics of the Supranational penal system on three distinctive areas: substantive criminal law, procedural law as well as matters of legal policy. Focus is placed on the transfer of knowledge of the research in this field. An interactive design is chosen: participants are invited and expected to actively contribute to the discussions. In order to promote the optimum learning environment, a maximum of 30 young researchers are selected per Summer School. Eligibility: Young researchers - Group 1 Participant attending the event is in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of his of her doctoral research activities. Selection criteria: Candidates will be selected on the basis of: their affinity with the subject matter, written recommendations from two or three supervisors, their academic publications and their motivation for participating in the project. The motivation must clearly indicate the candidate's ability to think laterally and creatively, i.e. crossing the confines of all related fields of study. This is because we are dealing with a new field of study, and it is important to select people who do not cling to the classical "boundaries" and definitions of International Criminal Law. Financial contribution: There are no fees charged to the participants. The subsidy reimburses the travel costs from the location where the participant is doing his or her Phd (up to a maximum amount). A per diem will be given to the participants. The costs of accommodation and meals are at the charge of the participants. The Grotius Centre may also offer to pay the accommodation instead of providing a per diem.
