Extra-curricular activities
The program includes a guided tour of the Peace palace, where the International Court of Justice is housed. Students will also visit the ICTY and the International Criminal Court where they can attend a hearing, and meet with a judge, prosecutor or legal counsel.

A visit of the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis
The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis is located on walking distance from the Grotius Centre, next to the Binnenhof, where Dutch parliament is seated. It houses a world famous collection of Dutch masterpieces from the 17th century. Paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Jan Steen, Frans Hals and numerous other masters from the Golden Age form the core of the collection.
A trip to the windmills of Kinderdijk
The Netherlands is famous for its windmills. Today there are still more than a thousand mills. Nowhere in the world there are as many windmills as near the Dutch village Kinderdijk. The windmills that were built there around 1740 have been well preserved to the present day. They are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. We will visit this extraordinary site and go on a biking tour there.
A canal boat cruise in Leiden
Participants will make a special boat trip along the canals of the historic town of Leiden. From the boat we will have wonderful views of the many beautiful monuments and the lively terraces of Rembrandts birthplace.
A day trip to Amsterdam
The program includes a daytrip to the capital of the Netherlands, with the possibility to visit the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum.
A walking tour in The Hague
We will go on a walking tour in the city centre of The Hague. An experienced local guide will take us along many beautiful and important historical sites, including the Binnenhof (where the Dutch parliament is seated) and the city palaces situated on the Kneuterdijk and the Lange Voorhout.
A party on the beachside in Scheveningen
Students can relax during a barbecue and party at Solbeach, a popular beach-side establishment in Scheveningen.

Apart from the extra curricular activities that will be organized by the Grotius Centre, students can choose from a wide range of activities during their leisure time. The Hague is an international city which has a lot to offer for tourists, from museums, cultural festivals, shops, restaurants and bars to the Kurhaus and the beach in Scheveningen (on walking distance from the hotel). From The Hague, the small town of Delft, known for its Delft Blue pottery, can be easily reached by tram. The cities of Amsterdam and Brussels can be reached by train within a few hours. Even Paris and London are just around 3 to 5 hours away.
